Golf - Project Management

1. What is project management?

Project management is the discipline of planning, organizing, and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives. It is often closely related to and sometimes conflated with program management.[1] Project Management is a method of defining goals, resources and operational activities in order to achieve the project completion and succession and the one-time objective. It is normally created once, it is then temporary. Project management is involve in developing a project plan, where it is carefully planned out including identifying objectives and project goals, making decisions on how to achieve such goal, and setting timelines to when should the project is done and fully operational. Project Management also involves in implementing of the project plan, there a regular maintenance of the project in order to achieve of the said goal in project plan, and to have a troubleshoot method if needed.[2]

Project Management uses a systematic and disciplined approach to develop software. Project Management activities include: determining the scope of the project, project planning, implementation of project components in a timely manner, review of project activities, and a listing of lessons learned during the project. These activities follow the typical life cycle of a software project.[3]

2. Enumerate/Identify the traditional development phases of a project
a. Planning/Initiation
b. Analysis
c. Design
d. Implementation
e. Maintenance[4]

3. Which phases are commonly done or conducted using information systems (either standalone or web-based)
In the Initiation and Maintenance phase.

4. State three or more advantages of using information systems for each of the phases that use them.
Initiation Phase:
a. To generate a high-level view of the intended project and determine the goals of the project.
b. The feasibility study is sometimes used to present the project to upper management in an attempt to gain funding. [5]
c. The feasibility study is used to determine if the project should get the go-ahead. If the project is to proceed, the feasibility study will produce a project plan and budget estimates for the future stages of development.[6]
Maintenance Phase:
a.Maintaining the system is an important aspect of SDLC
b.The deployment of the system includes changes and enhancements before the decommissioning or sunset of the system.
c.As key personnel change positions in the organization, new changes will be implemented, which will require system
updates.[5]
